We would like to congratulate a recent Boise State University graduate Daniel Greiner, who will be matriculating into the Bioscience Ph.D. program at the University of Utah this fall. Daniel regularly collaborated with the Beard Mv.P. Lab on multiple research projects and stated having "benefited extensively from Dr. Beard's mentoring." We wish him the best of luck in all his endeavors. He will be greatly missed.

Dr. Beard attended the 24th Annual Blood-Brain Barrier (BBB) Consortium Meeting on March 15th and 16th in Portland, Oregon. The meeting focused on "Advancing Translational Research on Central Nervous Systems (CNS) Barriers: Development, Disease, and Trauma."
Dr. Beard attended the National Institute of Health (NIH) Regional Conference 2017 in Jackson Hole, Wyoming from October 18 to 20. Dr. Beard was invited to attend the 2017 American Heart Association (AHA) Research Leaders Academy. This year's invitation-only conference was held September 17 through 19, in Denver, CO. "The AHA Research Leaders Academy was launched to create an annual platform to ensure that the AHA and its research leaders are best equipped to achieve the AHA’s Mission. Components of this platform include a systematic debate of important contemporary and future issues within the global research environment as well as fostering a robust professional network of academy members of all career stages within the cardiovascular and stroke fields." -AHA website

Dr. Beard has had the pleasure of mentoring both INBRE Undergraduate Fellows and high school-to-college STEM Transition Trainees this summer through Idaho's INBRE program at Boise State University. From July 31st to August 2nd, Dr. Beard joined these students as they presented their research at the Idaho INBRE Statewide Research Conference.
